What is true crime? In case you do not know I can tell you. True Crime is defined as “a non-fiction... genre in which the author examines an actual crime and details the actions of real people.” (Definitions.net). Pretty self-explanatory, crimes that are true.

There are many ways to consume true crime content. You can listen to a podcast, watch a documentary, read articles, or, like you are doing now, read a blog post. It is important to remember that not all blogs or articles are true/have reliable sources. I can assure you that I will do thorough research to make sure that all posts are factual, and I will list all of my sources.

If you are wondering why you should learn about some true crimes, I have a good reason for you. I think that everyone needs to know a little bit about true crimes so that they can identify and correctly react to situations that they find themselves in. One of the podcasts I enjoy has listener tales where listeners of the podcast can share their stories. Some of these stories share how people were able to get out of dangerous situations, such as a creepy person following them or asking them if they need a ride, because they listened to true crime stories and were able to figure out what to do based on that knowledge. I have listened to quite a few podcast episodes on true crime so I would like to think that I would be able to survive any situation because I have learned so much about true crimes. My mother also listens to these podcasts, and so we both have downloaded an app that allows us to see each other's location. This is handy because I like to go out of town to visit friends and she worries about me, so she will always know that I am safe.

True crime might not be for everyone, but everyone needs to know about it. There are awful people out in the world that do unspeakable things to their fellow humans. You deserve to live and not be worried about being murdered or kidnapped while doing everyday tasks. It is also important to remember that it is never the victim's fault, it is always the assailant's fault. So please enjoy reading the true crime cases that I will be sharing with you, and maybe learn a little something as you do.
