A couple from Minneapolis Minnesota are each charged with one count of second-degree felony murder and one count of second-degree intentional murder after shooting and killing Michael Chang-Beom Lee. The couple, Logan Slack and Fotini West, allegedly went to Mr. Lee’s home so that West could give him an erotic massage. Slack then shot Lee through the bathroom door when West claimed that she had been assaulted by Lee.

Mr. Lee and his Family

Mr. Lee called 911 on Saturday, September 24th, just after 2 am yelling, “Help me” and “They are trying to get into my house.” Police were dispatched to Lee’s home but were unable to enter the residence through the front door. They went around to the back of the house, where they found a shattered glass door. Officers followed bloody footprints on the carpet and found a deceased Lee in a basement bathroom “laying on the floor in a large quantity of blood.”

Two witnesses claimed to have seen an unfamiliar dark SUV parked outside Lee’s home that left shortly before the police arrived.

Later an officer conducted a traffic stop on a black Toyota SUV that contained 3 individuals. Two of the individuals were Slack and West. The officer was unaware of Mr. Lee’s homicide but called for backup when West claimed she’d been assaulted. She was covered in blood on her chest and arms. The officer asked where West was injured, and she showed him multiple cuts under her arms and near her biceps.

While speaking with West the officer received the call about Lee and was asked to check the soles of Slack's shoes for blood before taking him in. When Slack got out of the car the officer noticed a lump in the pocket of his hoodie which was later determined to be the soles of the shoes he was wearing. Slack told the authorities that he dropped West off at Mr. Lee’s home for an erotic massage in exchange for a monetary payment, but he took a revolver from the SUV and shot Lee through the bathroom door. Slack claimed that he killed Lee to keep him from notifying authorities and that he took his mobile device to obtain payment for the massage.

Both Slack and West are being held on a $1 million bond without conditions or $700,000 and $300,000 with conditions respectively.

A GoFundMe page describes Lee as a husband and the father of a 2-year-old son who had a “crinkle-eye smile” that “could brighten anyone’s day.” “He was charming, friendly, and funny. He loved to play volleyball and was known for his positive attitude on and off the court,” loved ones wrote. “He made the best kimchi. He always made an effort to talk to you and make you laugh.”
